Saturday:   10:00 AM – 6 PM

Sunday:      11:00 AM – 5 PM

For over 35 years the Poulsbo Arts Festival (previously Arts by The Bay) has been celebrated on the beautiful waterfront park in downtown Poulsbo on the third weekend in August.  There is something for every family to enjoy – including original fine art, prints, note cards, jewelry, photography, metalworking, ceramics, fabric arts and woodworking. Raffles of artwork, demonstrations, live music, dance and much more complete a fun weekend at the park.

Poulsbo Artists League (PAL) has supported Fine Arts in Kitsap County for over 42 years. Meeting weekly all year long, PAL provides members with a warm and welcoming place to create art, while meeting old and new friends.  Included in our membership we offer Demonstrations, Plein Air outings, Art Challenges and more.  We hope you visit us at our booth and join our membership!

February Concertina Sketchbook

For the Third Wednesday of the Month Program, On February 21st, PAL Board Secretary Judy Guttormsen demonstrated how to “Make Your Own Concertina Sketchbook”.

A concertina sketchbook is a sketchbook that is bound in a non-traditional way so that there is effectively just one long page that is folded like an accordion into a sketchbook size. They can be enjoyed as one long work of art or they can be paged through like a traditional sketchbook.

Judy did a wonderful job of demonstrating and it was a lot of fun. Members shared papers, and other supplies to create their own sketchbooks to take home.

Showing our paintings at Treehouse Cafe

The Treehouse committee, consisting of Kay, Jan, Judy and Valerie, makes the following announcements. There will be four shows lasting for three months each for our first year.  Along with each title we are providing some ideas to illustrate what we are looking for.  If you would like to be considered as the featured artist for one of them, please let us know.

September— The Elements Air, Water, Earth and Fire

Sky, seascapes, dewdrops, landscapes, fire, abstracts that relate and probably have a title that relates.

December—Luminous Winter

Winter light, shimmering snow and ice, animals in winter landscapes, cold, rainy cityscapes, and abstracts leaving the viewer with an overall feeling of Winter in color and composition.

March—Spring Magic

Flowers, whimsical images, spiritual, young critters, spring landscapes and fashion, abstracts in bright spring colors.

June— Color Fusion

Think  bright saturated COLOR of summer, bright sunrises and sunsets, gardens in full bloom, buildings, boats and people,  colorful abstracts

January Show and Tell

For the Third Wednesday program in January, members were asked to bring “something new and something old.” Many of us brought a painting done when we were a beginner, and also a recent painting, to show the difference.

Margot showed a painting done sixty years ago as well as a painting done recently.

Christmas Luncheon December 6, 2023

Today twenty-three of us enjoyed a rousing luncheon and gift exchange at Vinland Lutheran Church. Our lunch was provided by Chipotle, supplemented by delicious home-baked cookies and brownies. After lunch, we exchanged 5×7 art works and passed them around the table for everyone to enjoy. Happy Holidays, everyone!

Len Eisenhood, guest artist

On Wednesday, November 15, we had a presentation from Len Eisenhood on how to make marbled paper. He told us about his artistic journey and gave us a demonstration with a tub of water with carageenan. He dropped small droplets of acrylic colors into the bath and swirled them slightly to make a wild array of colors. he laid a piece of paper on the surface and when he lifted it up, it was beautifully marbled. About 22 members and guests watched his presentation.
